This in-person workshop introduces the basics of staying safe online. Through a read-aloud and a hands-on coloring activity, students begin to understand what it means to be safe on the internet. They create their own Cyber Detective characters, each with a special skill to help others navigate the digital world. With space for imagination and guided reflection, this workshop helps build the foundation for thoughtful and safe internet use from an early age.

This workshop is designed for educators to be able to use C4Y content in their own classroom. With the topic of using devices mindfully, the lesson plan covers many important cybersecurity subtopics such as password safety, digital footprint, screen time, and cyberbullying. By using comparisons and investigating positive and negative online habits, students will be able to form an idea of how to spot irregular behaviors online and know what to do in order to protect themselves. The linked drive contains everything needed to run the workshop, from a flyer advertising it to a sample video showing an example on how the workshop could be run. By the end of the session, the students will be able to recognize discrepancies in online interactions and protect themselves.
