Who Are We?

Learn the story behind our why and how we're making online spaces safer.

Meet Our Founder, Ria

In her freshman year of high school, Ria Sethi faced one of the most difficult experiences of her life. Anonymous accounts began targeting students with severe cyberbullying, and she was one of the few directly affected.

Determined to take action, Ria met with school administrators and law enforcement, but she was told that cyberbullying was “too much of a gray area.” In her sophomore year, her proposal to launch a cybersecurity club was dismissed for being “too computer science-oriented” since the school already had several CS-related groups.

But Ria knew the issue extended far beyond her own experience. She pursued cybersecurity internships and launched awareness campaigns. During the summer before her junior year, she realized a greater problem: students as young as middle school were struggling with the same challenges, and few resources existed to guide them or their parents through the complexities of being online.

She connected with other teenagers who recognized the same issue in their communities. Through these efforts, she founded Cyber For Youth in August 2024.

The C4Y Way

What We Do

Here, our goal is to provide people with the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. We do this through interactive workshops, including hands-on activities and meaningful discussions with our audiences. We create engaging content on social media to help teenagers learn about online safety and cybersecurity in a relatable way. Our team researches effective digital safety practices and designs workshops based on what actually works. We also prioritize communication and outreach, working with external partners to expand our mission and reach more communities.

Our Method

How We Do It

Our members are divided into four teams: Leadership, Research & Writing, Communications, and Marketing. Each team has its own goals and tracks its progress accordingly. The Marketing team focuses on managing our social media and creating materials for workshops. The Research & Writing team develops workshop content, researches relevant topics, and writes articles. The Communications team leads outreach efforts and builds partnerships. The Leadership team oversees all of these groups, with each team led by two designated heads. Leadership also handles key decision-making to guide the organization forward.

Our Mission

Why We Do It

We do it because we’ve lived it. Our organization is completely teen-led. We’ve grown up online, and we know what it’s like to face both the dangers and the benefits of the internet firsthand. From cyberbullying to scams to oversharing, we’ve seen how easy it is to feel lost or unsafe online. That’s why we’re passionate about helping others have real conversations about digital safety. We want to make it easier to talk about the internet, create strong passwords, recognize red flags, and build safer online habits—together.
